The final single from Serge Santiago’s ’11:11’ album was a sexy house banger guaranteed to spice up all manner of floors.

Marked out by a sultry female vocal, uplifting piano vibes, a deep Luther Vandross “yeah” and a couple of dynamite sustain-release breakdowns, this track is dripping in the sweaty smell of sex that you find on the sauciest of dancefloors.

Serge played ‘Deception’ in Fabric’s celebrated Room One early in 2023, and it was one of the biggest tunes of the night — from anyone. A secret weapon in his DJ sets, whether at his homegrown Stompaphunk parties in Brighton or elsewhere, it’s now full released into the disco universe.

ITHURTZ, the solo project of Rob Davy from house titans Mutiny, turns ‘Deception’ all dark and moody, ripe for some filthy occasions of the sleazier kind. And as a bonus, Jack Said What big boss Steve Mac has remixed Serge’s ‘Rave Track’ into a technoid pulveriser. “Everybody is talking about acid,” the Trainspotting writer intones. This is one for the Berghains of this world.
