Cousins Billy and Alfie Goffey met when they were babies — that’s because they are actual cousins. Having known each other their whole lives, the musically obsessed pair formed ‘Cousn’ in their mid-teens, starting to produce music together and learn how to DJ.
Their career got off to a great start when BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong named their debut release, Juggle’, his Essential New Tune. This accolade was followed up by Tong naming Cousn as ‘Future Stars of 2019’, and they soon secured a support slot on all seven dates of Fatboy Slim’s UK arena tour.
They’ve since played at many top festivals and clubs, including DC-10, The Warehouse Project, Printworks, Motion, Glastonbury, Bestival, Secret Garden Party, Boom Town and Hideout, and in autumn 2021 started their own FAMLY Connection night in east London – each one selling out.
Over lockdown, they’d focused a lot of their Rinse FM show, with every third one a FAMLY Connection special in which all the music came from within their ‘FAMLY Connection’ collective, a WhatsApp group filled with promising young producers and artists of all ages and walks of life.
Cousn have amassed 2.5 million plays on Spotify with releases on their own FAMLY Records, with ‘Are You With Us’ and ‘Movement’ becoming Danny Howard’s Friday Fire and Jaguar’s Dancefloor Moment respectively on Radio 1. They’ve remixed the likes of Jessie Ware, Lau.ra, Surya Sen and Klaus Blatter.
Look out for Cousn’s fluffy teddy bear mascot on their socials or at a club, festival or party near you soon!
